A timely re-visit to Kerri Chandler’s genre-crossing house track from 2005, “Bar A Thym”. One of the UK’s most prolific house duos, Peace Division, AKA Clive Henry & Justin Drake, lay down a fat n’ juicy 10 minute remix of this underground classic. Throbbing minimalist beats with a late nite groove pulsate whilst those familiar Bar A Thym growling stabs build and build. As the title implies, this brand new “Soft Heavy” remix goes for a more subtle take on the original, rather than a peak time stormer, and it’s all the better for it. Fans of Luciano, Villalobos, Radio Slave etc. will appreciate the sounds on offer on this remix.
Originally out on NRK/King Street in 2005, “Bar A Thym” clocked up chart positions, radio and club plays across the genres, with house, techno and even breaks DJs heralding the track as one of the best pieces in recent years; it’s heavyweight cowbell driven percussion and truly anthemic synth line has been driving club crowds wild over the last couple of years, uniting DJs of all musical persuasions. It also helped Kerri Chandler kick-start his career, with multiple releases and remixes since for labels like Defected, Soul Heaven, Freerange and Deeply Rooted under his belt recently.
