The first sampler to be released in support of Steve Bug’s forthcoming “The Lab 02” selection on NRK Music, following on from Loco Dice’s instalment back in April. Each mix in The Lab series will be a double CD of forward thinking electronic dance music, a platform for the selector to experiment with sound and rhythm, and create a 2 hour + mix that folk are gonna talk about! And Steve Bug does not disappoint; over 30 tracks over two discs, with a mixture of all the good deepness that make up the Steve Bug sound from artists such as DJ Koze, Peace Division, Ben Klock, Rocco, Jay Tripwire, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Cobblestone Jazz, Chateau Flight and Dan Berkson & James What.
This sampler contains the meaty, pumped up jackin mini-funk of Channel X’s superb “Ticket”, the downbeat and emotive “Huub Sand” by Dplay, the dub inflected Chateau Flight remix of Sideshow’s “If Alone” and the deep percussive swing of Dirk Lamprecht’s remix of “Fingers” by Andrade. A great 4 tracker, with a nice mix of deep and minimal to please most tastes.
